Oh, look. People.
So, I figure as I appear to have more people than I can count on my fingers friending me, and a lot of folks traipsing through to fic read, I should probably say hi.
Hi!
My name's Laura. I'm 25 on Thursday, English, and never really mind anyone friending me. Or defriending for that matter. You don't need to ask, just go ahead.
Let me think, things you should know about a Laura.
I am also known as a Small Fuzzy. This is because I am tiny (5'1 and a half - the half is important at that height believe me - need to eat my own bodyweight every 24 hours, and vary between being cheerfully harmless and occasionally biting.
I am in Cleveland which is almost the furthest North you can get on the internet in England. I shall shortly be moving to Newcastle which is the furthest North in England you can get and be on the Internet. I firmly believe this, having been on the internet seven years and never met anyone further North than that. In fact, the one person I've met in Newcastle doesn't really count as she's really from London. For some reason the internet is full of southerners. I have no idea why.
I love bugs. Yes, spiders included. I also love my camera, but you don't need to fear too much as I have Tizzy and Alysa on my Friends list, ensuring any bug pictures always come with a warning. I love those two too much to squick them. If you would like to see some of my bug pics, you can look here.
I run two PBeM Pern games, the first of which started in 1999 when I told Vicky that she should join one, it would only be a couple more emails a day, and it would be fun. I don't think she's ever forgiven me for that, as the pair of them are now pretty much the biggest and busiest games in fandom (no-one is quite sure how that happened either). If you would like to look, we have Arolos Weyr our PG13 game, and Dark Fort Weyr which is the smaller, more political game for over 15s.
Sometimes I write fic. As that's probably the reason most of you have turned up here, I suspect you may have noticed that ;-) It comes in spurts, depending on how much free time I have, how I feel, and how much Vicky is bullying me. Usually it's more original fic than fanfic. If you want to see past fic, I think I have pretty much all fanfic archived here and all original fic archived here
You're probably not ever going to find any real smut here. It's not that I have anything against smut, or that I'm ever going to take a moral stand against it at you - hell, I enjoy reading it from time to time. I'm just better at writing gen.
Along with Kat, I take a yearly New Year's Resolution not to go batshit crazy. So far, I believe, we've had a 100% success rate in keeping it.
I friendslock very little. Usually pretty much only family stuff or work stuff. Family stuff because my younger hal-brother occasionally wanders by here and doesn't need to hear me ranting, and work stuff due to a creepy exboss who used to read my livejournal to ensure I wasn't badmouthing the company.
Speaking of family, my parent have been divorced since I was tiny. I grew up with my mum, and my younger sister Carla - now 19 - who I adore, spoil rotten, and you will usually see to referred to on here as the bratchild. My Dad lives down in Scunthorpe with my younger half-brother and sister Jonathan and Georgia who we don't really see so much.
We were adopted by two cats last year. When I say "adopted by" I mean they turned up at the door looking skinny and sick and over a course of weeks made their way inside. Now they too are spoilt rotten. Their names are Holly and Ivy and you can see the latest pictures of them here
I do occasionally forget that the magic of the internet os that people can find you. This accounts for the sudden shy fits where I realise that oh god, people are looking at me and run to hide behind Vicky. It is fine to ignore those as she and Kat will usually laugh at me and make me come out in any case.
On the current livejournal fuss, it is very unlikely that I'll leave unless everyone else does and I find myself all alone in the world. Thus you are free to friend me knowing I'm not about to vanish to another service. Mostly, I must admit, because I'm lazy. Uprooting takes more effort than I care to put in.
I am addicted to the BBC website so you are often likely to find me linking to articles. I alo love my country deeply, mostly because it can be so silly at time. It has things like the Monster Raving Looney Party, it regularly has the Spirit of the Blitz, and it places what is possibly far too much significance on tea. We spend an awful lot of time getting things dead wrong, and I love the place regardless. It's home.
So, that's more or less everything you need to know about a fuzzy. Feel free to introduce yourselves:-)
