And finally, Bob
I found this fellow this morning when I took the ants outside for some sunshine. He was quite happily crawling along, so massive that at first I swear I thought he was a very small baby snake.

When I realised he was a caterpillar, I headed back into the house to grab my camera, and the nice safe container he is now house in. Vicky has ID'd him as an elephant hawkmoth, which means he will grow up to look something like this

(If you're wanting insect pictures, I've stuck the whole lot together here)

So is the left actually the front end, or is that camoflauge and the front is the other end?

The left is actually the front. I'd alarmed in a bit there, and he's scrunched himself up - when he stretches out the front is longer.

In that case, such a cute face. (I was hoping it was the face.) He's like a teddy bear caterpillar.

This is what they do to warn off threats - kinda imitating snakes. And then if they are really worried they rear up and wave their head around.
skeery:-)
